Kids go to the zoo with Buckingham Rotary

The Rotary Children’s Fun Day, which is hosted by Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland, giving positive experiences for some of the UK’s most vulnerable children.

Taking place on 11th June, this year’s Rotary Children’s Fun Day will support more than 22,000 young people, making it the biggest single outing for disadvantaged children in the country.

Memorable experiences children will enjoy trips to theme parks, activity centres and zoos, arts experiences and theatre visits, as well as exciting activities in school settings.

For more than three decades, Rotary has given more than one million disabled and disadvantaged young people the chance to enjoy these new experiences, taste adventure and have fun trips and days out.

For 2025, the Rotary Club of Buckingham will be taking 40 children from the primary schools in Buckingham to Whipsnade. Due to the availability of transport we will be going on 13th June, but this is still one of the Fun Day events.

Steve Rose, National Project Lead for the Rotary Children’s Fun Day and member of the Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland Board said:

“One of Rotary’s leading commitments is to provide support and opportunity to young people from all backgrounds.

“The Rotary Children’s Fun Day focuses particularly on those who might not ordinarily get that support and opportunity but, arguably, need it the most.

“It is much more than a day of entertainment and fun, it is about opening doors for children who face challenges many of us can’t imagine and showing them their future is full of hope and potential.”

President of the Rotary Club of Buckingham, Chris Gardiner, said: “We’re proud to be playing a part in what is a huge event for young people across the country. We want to uplift people in our local community who need it most with days they hopefully will never forget.”

The Rotary Children’s Fun Day is proudly backed by Kids in Mind, a children's charity that offers mental health and wellbeing support for children who have experienced domestic violence.
