Buckingham 500 Report

About the Event
On Saturday 23rd May over twenty organisations gathered in the heartland park collecting cans as food donations for local food banks. A challenge had been made to collect cans to create a line 500m long. To this end the Buckingham community came together including schools, nurseries and local group spent the spring collecting cans.
In the morning of the 23rd May the groups came to the park and laid out the cans along the paths. To move the cans into the park the help of the scouts and cadets was greatly appreciated! These were put together to give a total count of 7,255 cans covering 512m!
During the afternoon there was entertainment and music provided by the Buckingham Rotary club and the Buckingham Cancer Research Action
Group. There was a steady flow of visitors and families from the town came to enjoy the games and music.
At the end of the day all the cans were collected up and delivered to eight local food banks.
Many thanks to all those who donated cans and helped or came along on the day.
